USA: NY Fed 1- - Yr inflation expectations (Sep): Up 0.2pps to 3.4%.
CAN: Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (Sep): Up 13pxs to 59.8.
DEU: Factory orders (Aug): Down 0.8% mom, up 1.5% yoy, below mkt.
JPN: Household spending (Aug): Up 2.3% yoy.
CHN: Foreign reserves (Sep): At CNY3.34tn, above mkt.
AUS: Westpac consumer conf (Oct): Down 3.5% mom to 123pxs.
US equities were weaker Tuesday, S&P down 0.4%, first down day in a week and a half. US10yr yields down 3bps to 4.13%. Gold futures lifted above USD4,000/ounce for the first time; prices are now up ~20% since August and 50% since the start of the year. Positive tone – but no specifics – on US-Canada trade negotiations, with Trump indicating after a meeting with Carney that he expected the Canadian PM to “walk away very happy”.
